Altar Guild

At Church of the Good Shepherd, the sacrament of Holy Communion is shared every Sunday and during special services throughout the year. The Altar Guild is responsible for making sure everything goes smoothly, preparing the altar for service and making sure everything is properly stored after the service.

Altar Guild is sponsored in part by a longstanding Good Shepherd tradition: dedications of altar flowers for Sunday service, and special arrangements for Christmas, Palm Sunday, and Easter.  Dedications come from parishioners as a memorial for departed loved ones or as a thanksgiving for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms or weddings.  There is a $35.00 cost, which is directed to the Altar Guild Fund.

The Altar Guild Fund is used to provide all the flowers and decorations in the sanctuary and side chapel, the linens on the altar, and the bread and wine for the communion services.

To obtain information regarding flower dedications for memorials and/or thanksgiving, for additional information about the Altar Guild, or to become a part of the Altar Guild ministry team, please contact the church office at 605-332-1474.
