Children and Youth
Children and youth are important to the life of Good Shepherd. We worship together in a multi-generational community and we also have specific time for children and youth to grow to love God in heart, mind, soul and strength.
We offer Sunday school to preschool and elementary age children during our 10:00AM Sunday service. Children begin the service with their families, and then go to their classroom for a Gospel story and learning activities, returning to their families for the celebration of Communion in the second half of the services. We use the "Celebrate the Good News" Children's Chapel Curriculum for our church-time Sunday school.
In addition, Church of the Good Shepherd offers a nursery with a speaker in which you may supervisor your children.
Our Youth group is designed to provide middle and high school youth with service, worship and social activities, such as horseback riding, kayaking, game nights and discussion around issues that affect today's youth.
We have combined with the other Episcopalian Churches in Sioux Falls to do a Wednesday night program called Rite 13 (Middle School) and Journey to Adulthood (High School). We meet at Calvary Cathedral (500 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD) from 6:30pm-8:00pm for a very interactive look at our faith and why we believe what we do. Come join us and bring a friend!
Additionally, many of our youth serve as acolytes and as lay readers.
