Our June outreach is Mission 22. This national non-profit organization was founded by Veterans in 2013 to provide support and treatment programs for active service members, Veterans, and their family members and communities. Their programs are long term, addressing persistent issues such as post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, suicide and other challenges. Their goal is to raise awareness, enlist support, and end Veteran suicide in America.
The ”22” in their name represents the estimated number of veterans who lose their lives to suicide every day (per 2013 study by US Dept. of Veteran Affairs). Over 6000 families have been served by this 501c3. Programs are provided at no cost. 87.8% of your donation goes directly to programs, and 12.2% is used to raise awareness and support for the programs.
Several of our congregation will be walking for Mission 22 on Saturday, June 22 starting at 2.22pm on the new track on Augustana’s campus -south of the hockey stadium. Please join us!
