The Rev. Dr. Christina O’Hara
The Rev. Dr. Christina O’Hara grew up in Toronto, Canada, met her husband Dave in college in Vermont, and joined the Episcopal Church when they were in New Mexico for graduate school. They moved to Sioux Falls in 2007 and joined Good Shepherd as parishioners with their three kids who are now adults. After 19 years of campus ministry as a lay person, training as a Spiritual Director in Yankton, and attending Sioux Falls Seminary, Mother Christina heard the call to the priesthood and was ordained in 2011. She recently completed a Doctor of Ministry at Claremont School of Theology and two years in the Living School through the Center for Action and Contemplation in New Mexico. Mother Christina is a helper, a learner, and one who is committed to collaborative leadership, emotionally healthy discipleship, and contemplative prayer moving us into action on behalf those Jesus calls us to love and to serve.
…After 4 years of work as the Curate and Canon for Lifelong Christian Formation at Calvary Cathedral, I have enjoyed stepping into the leadership role of Rector. I recently completed my Doctorate in Spiritual Growth, Strategic Leadership and Contemplative Practice at Claremont School of Theology. The Vestry leaders and I welcome involvement from the congregation in our Mission Teams formed around our Spiritual Life (Worship, Pastoral Care, and Spiritual Growth), our Parish Life (Social Events, Outreach, and Finance and Stewardship), and our Facilities Life (Buildings and Grounds). We look forward to growing in the knowledge and love of Christ as together we build the Kingdom of God in Sioux Falls.
